This week it’s all things organic, as Canada celebrates Organic Week (September 21-28, 2013) and the Canadian Organic Growers – Ottawa-St. Lawrence-Outaouais Chapter offers some food for thought and action, including:
- A screening of the documentary The Vanishing of the Bees on Thursday, Sept. 26, 7 p.m. at The Taggart Family Y, 180 Argyle Ave. The film looks at the disappearance of honeybees around the world, what it means for humans and the earth, and how to help. After the film there’ll be a panel discussion and Q&A with beekeepers and pollinator experts.
- A Growing Organic Garlic workshop on Oct. 17, 7-9 p.m. (A Winterizing your organic garden workshop to be held Sept. 24 has been cancelled.) See www.cog.ca/ottawa for workshop details and registration.
Check COG-OSO’s website for other local events celebrating organic food and farming, and their suggestions for bringing organic into your life—such as shopping at local farmers’ markets, finding places to buy organic, and planting your own organic garden.
