In a couple of earlier posts, I wrote about TransCanada’s proposed Energy East pipeline through Ottawa, what some groups are saying about it and some ways that people can make their views heard about the planned pipeline.

One Ottawa resident, Charles Hodgson, took the initiative to organize a community meeting earlier this week. He invited his city councillor, MPP and MP, and about 40 or so people turned out to hear from and talk with their political representatives about the pipeline.

Charles has written about the event and discussion on Ecology Ottawa’s website at http://ecologyottawa.ca/2014/01/21/pipeline-wine-cheese/.

He also says he’s willing to share tips with other people who’d like to organize similar events in their own neighbourhoods. Another source of inspiration when you feel like you want to do something, but aren’t sure where to start.
