Lovely photo – inspiring to see!
I was just talking to someone last week about the need for urban meadows! At 10,684 square meters (approx. 2.6 acres) – this may be too small to attract nesting grassland birds but it’s great to hear that this green roof has been created with native tall-grass, self-seeding species that grow along the Ottawa River. I wonder if there is a space in Ottawa that could be converted – the consultant I was talking to said 7 – 10 acres of native grassland are needed to support certain bird species like the bobolink!
